Origins of Retrouvaille

Retrouvaille began in 1977 as a French language weekend for hurting marriages in the province of Quebec, Canada. It was adapted to English by the community in Toronto, who also revised and strengthened the contents of the weekend and developed the post-weekend programmes. From 1982, Retrouvaille has spread through the U.S.A., South America and from 1991 into many other countries around the world.

Our Journey

After 30 years, Retrouvaille is recognised as a leader in marriage ministries. No longer “the best kept secret in the church,” Retrouvaille continues, however, to be limited by lack of team couples and priests to accomplish the vision and mission embraced by the Retrouvaille founders. Those who have involved themselves in helping other hurting couples would agree that making themselves available has been a gift to continue their own growth and kept them from slipping back into a self-centered lifestyle which brought them to Retrouvaille in the first place.
